BOSTON (AP) — A man who was arrested in Haiti in connection with the 2011 deaths of his ex-girlfriend and her sister in Boston has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

Jean Janvier was arraigned Friday in Suffolk Superior Court.

He’s charged in the fatal shootings of his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Stephanie Emile, and her 23-year-old sister, Judith, at their apartment Nov. 14, 2011 in Dorchester. Authorities say responding officers also found a 2-year-old child alive at the apartment.

Prosecutors say Janvier had a brief relationship with Stephanie Emile and was angry when the relationship ended.

Prosecutors say Janvier fled to Haiti after he was called in for questioning in December 2011. He was indicted in 2012.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Janvier was captured June 3 at his mother’s home in Santo, Haiti.
