Police arrested man named Reginald Moise, 20, in connection to 22-year-old student death at New York festival / / / Possible cancellation for future carnival festival…

September 7, 2016: A student was gunned down during New York West Indian Carnival Festival.  Police says Tiarah Poyau, 22, was shot because she simply asked the man now know as Reginald Moise to stop touching and rubbing on her. The incident took place in Brooklyn’s J’Ouvert carnival.

The reports say Moise shot the graduate student in the face after she said “Get off me”. After that, Moise told a friend he think he shot someone and not sure if the gun was loaded, the report said. Police caught up with him driving drunk after crashing his car.

No words yet of Moise ethnic background, but a Caribbean flag was wrapped around his arm from a shot wound to himself. The report says Moise had went back to his girlfriend place, where he shot 2 shots into a mirror which led to his arm injury.  He is facing second degree murder. As far as for next year celebration, the city mayor Bill de Blasio says he might put an end to J’Ouvert. “All options are on the table….I’m not going to go into detail until we do a full review,’ he said. “I’m open to canceling it next year,’ he added.
