Haitian authorities crack down gang members operation in the town of Crois-Des-Bouquets. Officials have been conducting their own operation since June, part of the Haitian National Police plan to take control of that particular zone as the election approaches in Haiti. Many weapons were seized including guns, knives and even hammers.
Even though threats of gang violence affect the entire capital of Port-au-Prince, it cannot be compared to the continuous suffering from gang violence in the town of Cite Soleil, an inpoverished and densely populated commune located in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area.
Haiti is not the only country that is facing this growing threat. In the United States, statistics puts Chicago as the number one city with well over 60, 000 gang members. But there is a potential for violence in Haiti because for its lack of security and many of the gangs consistently threatened the country’s fragile stability. However, there has been much progress made in recent years in improved security in the country which has allowed Haiti to gain significant growth in tourism.
