Haiti’s former president Rene Preval has passed away in Haiti. According to reports, Preval suffered a Cardiac arrest and may be because of his continuous health problems since leaving office. Born Rene Garcia Preval on January 17, 1943, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Preval died at 74 today in Laboule.
Preval served two terms as president. From 1996 – 2001, and was elected again in 2006. Preval is Haiti’s 55th elected president. He was married to his wife Elizabeth Preval and have two children, Dominique and Patricia.
Unlike some others and according to reports, Rene Preval is known to be the only president in Haitian History to have served two full presidential terms and not be jailed, exiled or killed.
